"BEPS discussions are overdue"
Interview with Dr. Marco Felder, Volksblatt, 2014
The BEPS (Base Erosion and Profit Shifting) discussions are of great importance for Liechtenstein, as they concern measures against legal profit reductions and profit shifting by companies. Marco Felder, President of the IFA Liechtenstein National Group, emphasizes the need for the country to prepare for these discussions. Particularly important are the substance requirements, such as the employment of qualified personnel and the bearing of costs and risks in order to avoid letterbox companies. Liechtenstein is not sufficiently prepared for the BEPS era, which could jeopardize its attractiveness as a tax and business location. Swift political action is required to meet the challenges and fulfill international requirements. A BEPS-compliant economic strategy could also establish Liechtenstein as a location for intellectual property and improve its external perception.
