"Liechtenstein must not be judged by its past"
Article in Wirtschaftregional, 2014
Liechtenstein is striving to become a major location for philanthropy. Despite efforts and initiatives to date, such as the "Agenda 2020" and the "Roadmap 2015" of the Liechtenstein Bankers Association, concrete results are still rare. Experts such as Clemens Laternser and Hans Rainer Künzle emphasize that the process will take time and patience. Challenges exist above all in the international perception of Liechtenstein, which is burdened by past tax scandals. The President of the Association of Liechtenstein Charitable Foundations, Hans Brunhart, praises the legal progress, international compatibility and the clear definition of charitable status. Despite existing know-how, however, experts see limited market potential for philanthropy in Liechtenstein. Efforts to improve the image and promote international acceptance are ongoing, whereby patience and continuous communication are crucial.
