"National and international taxes"
Article in Wirtschaftregional, 2015
The Liechtenstein Association for Tax Law (IFA) organized a specialist symposium on international tax developments. The focus was on EU and OECD measures against tax evasion and fraud. IFA President Marco Felder emphasized the relevance and complexity of topics such as the BEPS project and the automatic exchange of information (AEOI). Liechtenstein has made good progress with implementation, he said. Georg Kofler from the Johannes Kepler University Linz compared the EU action plan with the 15 OECD measures and highlighted differences. Martin Wenz from the University of Liechtenstein highlighted the impact on Liechtenstein. Peter Altenburger used a practical example to explain how double taxation conflicts can arise as a result of increasing transparency and different taxation systems. A subsequent panel discussion with other experts delved deeper into the topic. The IFA, founded in 1938, has over 12,000 members worldwide and regularly organizes symposia.
