"Liechtenstein will soon be BEPS-compliant"
Article by Dr. Marco Felder, Volksblatt, 2015
The Liechtenstein Association for Tax Law (IFA) held the symposium "International Developments in Tax Law", which focused on EU and OECD measures to combat tax evasion. IFA President Marco Felder emphasized that Liechtenstein is already heavily affected by these measures, but is optimistic about the future. Georg Kofler from the Johannes Kepler University Linz presented the EU action plan on tax evasion, which has shown initial success since 2012, but also has critical gaps and conflicts with OECD standards. Martin Wenz from the University of Liechtenstein emphasized that Liechtenstein must take active action in order to gain credibility. Peter Altenburger used a practical example to show that increasing transparency can lead to double taxation conflicts. The subsequent panel discussion emphasized the need to comply with the Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) and OECD standards by 2016.
