ITLRN 2024
The International Tax Law Research and Policy Network (ITLRN) is an international research network bringing together leading academics and practitioners in international tax law. It was founded by leading international tax experts from academia and practice and promotes independent research in international tax law as a basis for informed and substantive discussion.
Following two successful ITLRN tax conferences in Belgrade and Milan, it was a great pleasure for us to host and co-organise the 2024 tax conference in Liechtenstein.
The conference was held under the theme «Taxation of Trusts, Foundations and Similar Arrangements in a Global Setting».
Around 50 distinguished participants from around the world, including representatives of the OECD as well as leading tax experts from academia and practice, discussed the conference topic across eight panels from various perspectives. Particular attention was given to the impact of global and geopolitical developments and the resulting legal and tax challenges and opportunities for trusts, foundations and comparable structures such as holding companies and family offices. The conference also addressed topics related to philanthropy and asset protection.
The scholarly contributions developed during the conference were compiled and published in a conference volume.
The conference provided a unique platform for expert exchange and for discussing current developments in international tax law. It also offered valuable opportunities for networking. Beyond the academic programme, participants enjoyed a carefully curated social programme, highlighting Liechtenstein’s unique alpine setting, culinary experiences and festive moments.
On behalf of FS+P, it was a great pleasure to welcome numerous international guests to an exceptional tax conference in Liechtenstein.
