ITLRN 2024
After two successful tax conferences held by the "International Tax Law Research and Policy Network" (ITLRN) in Belgrade and Milan, we were delighted to serve as hosts and co-organizers of the 2024 tax conference in Liechtenstein.
The theme of the conference was "Taxation of Trusts, Foundations, and Similar Arrangements in a Global Setting." The event took place on May 23 and 24, 2024, at the Vaduzer Saal in Vaduz.
The ITLRN was founded by renowned professors Prof. Dr. Vikram Chand (University of Lausanne), Prof. Dr. Svetislav Kostic (University of Belgrade), Prof. Dr. Andreas Baez Moreno (University Carlos III, Madrid), and Dr. Mario Tenore (Of Counsel, Pirola Pennuto Zei & Associati, Italy). It included prominent international members from the fields of tax law academia and practice. The primary goal of the network was to promote independent expert research in the area of international tax law, which served as a foundation for diverse discussions on global tax issues.
Approximately 50 distinguished individuals from around the world, including representatives from the OECD as well as leading tax experts from academia and practice, discussed the conference theme in eight panels from various perspectives. Particular attention was given to the impact of global and geopolitical developments, as well as the legal and tax challenges and opportunities arising for trusts, foundations, and similar wealth structures such as holding companies or family offices. Additionally, the topics of philanthropy and asset protection were addressed.
The scholarly articles developed as part of the conference were compiled and published in a book.
The conference offered a unique opportunity for the exchange of expert knowledge and discussions on current developments in international tax law. Furthermore, it provided a platform to establish valuable connections and build networks. Beyond the professional exchange, a varied supporting program was offered, ranging from the unique setting of Liechtenstein amidst its alpine landscape to culinary delights and celebratory moments.
On behalf of FS+P, we were pleased to welcome numerous participants from around the world to an extraordinary tax conference in Liechtenstein.
